FAQ

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MEDICAL VS VISION INSURANCE

Vision insurance only covers "routine" eye exams. A "routine" eye examination is considered a preventative exam.  The refraction (determination of the eye's prescription) is included, and we check the overall health of the eye. Since there are no major medical problems, there will be no discussion of problems and follow-ups are not necessary.

If you have a concern, like an increase in floaters, a red eye, or a medical condition that requires an eye evaluation, this is considered an office visit. Your medical insurance will cover this if we take your medical insurance. You may be required to pay an additional co-pay or deductible amount for the visit. If we do not accept your insurance plan, you will be responsible for the out of pocket cost.

To help you, please give us your ID# and DOB so we may verify your benefits and see if you are in network with us.

We currently do not accept EYEMED for vision exams, however you may submit a claim reimbursement if you'd still like to be seen by us. You'll just pay for it out of pocket and submit the claim to get reimbursed for the exam. We can provide you with that form.
